Anyone else having the problem downloading and logging into the game?

My boyfriend and I have had a hard time being able to log in for a few weeks now, the game won't even download before a pop-up from our computers say "The title has been disabled due to a possible malicious activity" and when we scan the computer for malware, it doesn't find any threats? It's been so frustrating and we miss playing the game. Any tips? We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game but it doesn't work.

Thanks

    Hello!
    ITS FINALLY WORKING AGAIN!
I tried a few different things:
    1. I deleted all the potbs files I had before the problem started and after I reinstalled it via the Google Drive. I deleted all of it (except the screenshots I took from the game) and I reinstalled the files that Jack O'Conner posted here.
    2. I tried the Windows Powershell thing but it wasn't working
    3. Then after the files finished downloading, I made sure to Extract the 4 files that were dowloaded individually into the file I created for PotBS. And then I tried to start the game again, and sure enough, it worked! So thank you guys so much! You're awesome, my boyfriend has yet to try that too. Hopefully it will work for him too!
You may be right maybe the files didn't process right the first time.

Hello there! I have updated my Google drive with the latest version and all you need to do is download it and extract it to a location of your desire. (Default installation folder is C: Program Files (86)

    Ahoy Katrina.
It is an issue, cause unknown, that affects a limited range of player.

Manually downloading  the game files (Jack's link) will get you sailing tge waters of potbs.

OBS! You do not need to download, I understand it as you already have the game installed.
You just need to run potbs.exe from the folder you have potbs installed to.

  • Thanks guys, unfortunately I can't get it to work still. It won't run or install anything new. It just gave me a new error asking for a "Support Ticket"

  • That's very odd Katrina, bypassing the Bitraider launcher/updater has worked for everyone else.

If you've found something new, please share, and we can work on fixing it! :-)

    Hi. I  extracted all files, found the PotBS application, started it up. This is as far as I can get;
     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2ZC5mcd8lY&feature=youtu.be

Side note, the loading screen with the airplane picture makes the signature 'flyby' sound, but once the error message appears, it won't go any further
  • I downloaded the files from the Google Drive, and I tried to play the PotBS program from the extracted files, and it didn't start up, I just got a Pop-Up asking for a Support Ticket and that I had to email portualus games to ask for one. The Harlows said to email visiononlinegames instead since portualus doesn't own POTBS anymore, and I did but I haven't gotten a reply even 48 hours later.
  • To be specific, it tells me this: "An error occurred loading the correct message for this dialog. Please run a full scan of your game client or visit http://burningsea.com/support to file a support ticket."
  • KasparKKasparK (Forum Administrator)
"full scan of your game client" requires BitRaider and some can't run that atm.(the error message you posted originally in this thread).

The log might give more information

You can give this a try (a file may have been damaged in Jack's files - the link prevoius posted in this thread)
This one is the one I posted in the Installation FAQ > https://forums.burningsea.com/discussion/comment/1335328/#Comment_1335328

Meanwhile: I am downloading Jack's files now to compare files sizes(in case of a file corruption)

My guess is still that a file have been damaged - the Critical error usually is connected to that.

Using Window Powershell - you can get a list of file sizes with this.
    get-childitem "C:\Program Files (86)\Pirates of the Burning Sea" -Recurse | where {!$_.PSIsContainer} | select-object FullName, LastWriteTime, Length | export-csv -notypeinformation -path files.csv | % {$_.Replace('"','')}
Right click startmenu, select Powershell. (or in the folder Shift+right click, select "Open powershell windows here"
    Insert the above command
It will creates a file "files.csv" containing the info.

I have attached some comparison data (I cleaned it up a bit from the experte files.csv)

You can just post/send me your file and I do the comparison for you if you'd like.

You'd ofc need to adjust to the path you have the game files at.

"C:\Program Files (86)\Pirates of the Burning Sea"

    ^is the standard path

@KasparK any issues? Do I need to re-upload?
  • KasparKKasparK (Forum Administrator)
    @Jack O'Conner I experienced no issue.
My guess is file(s) may have become corrupt during conmpression on google, drive, download or extraction on pc.

So not the files on google drive, so no re-upload required.

  • Does that error appear if any of the dependencies are missing?

  • Now my boyfriend is having a hard time getting his to work. It keeps giving him the "Do you want to replace this file even though you already have a "Pirates of the Burning Sea" file?" notification, he's tried changing the name of the files but it won't work. What should he do next? He is trying to extract the files to the same folder location.
  • KasparKKasparK (Forum Administrator)
Either say yes to replace or extract to a different folder/location.
It does not matter where there the game files are as the game is not "installed" as such.
(Game can run regardless where the files are located as long as the required dependencies are installed)

  • Nah, nothing's working at all. Its hopeless. Thanks for your help, guys. But I'm obviously destined never to play this game again. It's a shame, because I had a lot of fun on it. Oh well.

  • If you download the game and just leave it wherever its downloaded, then install the dependencies, it should just run from where it is. Shouldn't need to move files at all.
But replacing files should be fine. And probably quite normal if you have installed it before.
If the dependencies are already installed then it may be asking to overwrite them?

Update: sorry for the delay, however the video should be up by today. Ran into some minor issues.
  • Thats okay. When it's finished, could you post a link, please?

I'm not having any luck either.  Get the "malicious software" popup on the bitlocker.  When I try to run Potbs.exe directly is says physx software missing.  Do I really have to run a super old version of the Nvidia drivers to play this game?

NM. I see I just need to also load the old Physx driver.  So I can launch the game directly using the potBS.exe but bitraider won't work.  I posted in another forum that's dealing specifically with bitraider issues.

Bummer that we're having these issues while Vision Online is actively campaigning for new players!
